The Golden Rules of a Good
Web Design
-
Do not keep it static. Continuously work to improve it. Update
and add pages on a timely basis. Give a person a reason to come back. Eliminate
dead links.
-
Offer something worthwhile. What type of information can
your site provide that cannot be found somewhere else.
-
Limit size of an individual page to about 50k or less. Exceptions
for important items. Large graphics should be labeled with anticipated
download times.
-
Limit graphics on a web page. Remember more is not good when
it comes to accessing graphics intensive web pages.
-
Place control buttons or links at the top or at the side
of the web page. This will allow a user to quickly see their options.
